Theresa may will not be leading the conservatives in the next election

Today's breaking news on Prime Minister Theresa May confirms she will not be leading the Conservative Party into the next General Election. She will step down from the responsibilty as she announces that she would rather "go into into that election with another leader" as she Brussels for an EU summit.

May told MPs ahead of a confidence vote triggered by MPs angry at her Brexit policy.

She won the vote but has vowed to listen to the concerns of the 37% of Tory MPs who voted against her - oops!

The next scheduled general election is in 2022.
